Welcome to Outback Chef’s Newsletter from Phillip Island’s Wild Food Farm.

The peace and tranquility of the Rainforest is just a great spot for breakfast or lunch with family or friends.  Sunday’s its open for our regular Doggie Day Walk, then you can enjoy a coffee or meal with your furry friend.

We’re fully licenced too.

Coffee or Lunch
in a Bushland Setting?

Our huge amount of outdoor space is a major drawcard for guests wanting to enjoy a relaxing coffee in the sunshine or share a meal with friends in a beautiful bushland setting. We’re fully licenced too so pull up a table on the long verandahs, in the courtyard or on the grassy lawn. If the clouds roll in, head for our undercover all-weather Rainforest Atrium.

Take a stroll along our native food trail and enjoy the special magic of the Australian outdoors. Our Lilly-Pilly hedgerows are a blaze of crimson.

And on Sundays you can even bring your favourite dog to enjoy the walk with you. Doggie Day Walk is  EVERY Sunday, the gates open and so does the Rainforest for you and your dog.  Other days on the front verandah or lawn.

Planning an Event

We are delighted that so many people are considering the Wild Food Farm for their special events.

Interest has been high right through Winter and the inquiries keep rolling in.

We have ten acres of beautiful bushland presenting so many options for your group whether in our Rainforest Atrium, Homestead Cafe, verandahs, courtyard and lawns.

Love a great argument?
Join our Monthly Philosophy Lunches

It’s always great to see special interest groups discovering the delights of the farm and coming back for return visits.

One such group is the “Thursday Thinkers”. These deep thinkers love nothing more than a feisty discussion on a controversial topic like the meaning of life or whether abandoning the monarchy would plunge our nation into uncertainty and chaos! This all occurs over a very civilised two course lunch and drinks from 12-3pm on the first Thursday of every month. So if you’re up for a robust exchange of opinions with some stimulating company in a delightful setting, don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll book you in. September’s topic for example was Tolerance: What ideas, opinions or behaviours are you fundamentally not prepared to tolerate? And why?

Anything could be on the table so it could get pretty lively… the state of the world, resolutions and growing older as disgracefully as possible!!

This is a great event to meet people, make new friends and just generally have a bit of fun.  Ideal for singles, couples or part of a group, all welcome.

Trading hours

Our cafe doors are open Friday through to Monday 9-3, although you can shop any time at the Outback Chef’s online store. Just click on Shop at the link below and browse the selection.

Of course we’d love to see you in person, so come and join us in our cozy farmhouse cafe for Breakfast, Lunch, Coffee and Cakes, or a relaxing beer or wine with friends.

We have so much space for you to spead out and relax: Undercover in our Rainforest, on our cafe verandahs, or in the courtyard.

Phillip Island and Bass Coast Ukulele Festival:

What a hoot we had at the recent Phillip Island and Bass Coast Ukulele Festival. It was a fantastic celebration of ukulele talent from the local area and beyond. Can you imagine 250 ukulele musos playing along together and sharing their favourite songs? That’s what happened and we hope to see everyone and more again next year.

Art Exhibition to Support our Volunteer Firefighters

Special thanks to everyone who came along to support our local CFA ahead of the coming bushfire season.

An exhibition of works by members of the Phillip Island Art Society was held at the Wild Food Farm at Rhyll in mid September.

So many of our talented local artists donated commissions of between 20 and 100 percent to support the operations of the Cowes CFA.

A hot summer is tipped, so every possible support for our local fire brigade is vital.

The art exhibition in the Wild Food Farm’s Rainforest Atrium ran for a week until Friday 29 September.
