Strawberry Gum, Eucalyptus olida

Habitat: found near Tenterfield, NSW. Prefers full-sun and frost tolerant. Ideal for growing in temperate conditions, but can grow in subtropical climates. Description: Medium-sized tree up to 10 metres. Leaves are gray, new growth is a purple colour, and about 10cm long. It has creamy flowers. Leaves can be used either fresh or dried. Strawberry gum has been harvested for perfumery and to enhance the flavours in cooking eg deserts, jams, confectionery and teas since the 1980_s. Strawberry Gum has been carefully blended with black tea leaves to create a tea ready to make in the pot.
