A bird attracting shrub that grows to a height of approx 2-3 m, hardy when it's established. It has masses of red or organge fleshy fruits throughout summer and autumn.  A yellow dye can be obtained from the wood.

 

Raw fruit is sweetish, but not unpleasant.  Seed can be roasted and used as a coffee substitute.
