The leaves are dried and ground for culinery use and can be used where you would use Star Anise or Aniseed.  They have a strong and concentrated smell of licorice.

A native of northern New South Wales, but it has been known to grown as far south as Victoria.  They are large bushy trees up to 25m in height, with shiney leaves, wavy edges and have clusters of fluffy white flowers in Spring with a strong aniseed scent.
